Dr. Dewey is a very open-minded and empathetic physician. She is originally from Maryland and completed medical school at Northwestern University. She moved to New Roads with her husband as that is where he grew up, but she truly loves the small town community. She is a mother of two, and loves to share funny anecdotes about her kids. New Roads is a largely religious area and the OLOL hospital is overseen by the Church. Despite some of the religious restrictions in place at the clinic, Dr. Dewey is a champion for safe sex practices and reproductive autonomy. She is also one of the only local doctors who prescribes Suboxone for opioid use disorder. She cares about her patients deeply, and works with them to overcome withdrawal and relapses. Working with Dr. Dewey is the kind of experience where you get out what you put in. If you want to do the bare minimum, I don't think she would give you a hard time. However, if are engaged, open to learning, and ask questions she will go above and beyond to teach you. As a person, she is chatty, quirky, and authentically herself. Ultimately, she is a good doctor/teacher and wants to help make your Family Med experience as enjoyable as possible.
